Hello Eva, who are you, and what exactly do you do?

Hello! I am Eva, the founder of Lemon Sky Fabrics. As a real "Kieler Sprotte," I grew up by the Baltic Sea. As a child, I was happiest with a paintbrush or wax crayon in my hand! After high school, I first went on to study business administration, which wasn’t very creative. Later on, as a mother of nine children, I discovered sewing for myself.

The funny thing is that even before my first sewing class, I had already stocked up on wonderful fabrics—I simply couldn't resist the patterns! That was the beginning of my great love for fabrics! This passion eventually led to my online shop, where I can share my enthusiasm for unique fabrics with my customers.

What inspires you when creating fabric designs?

The designs of "Lemon Sky Fabrics" are meant to make life more colorful and beautiful! I love the bold, geometric patterns of the 60s and 70s, but opulent floral and paisley patterns in the Boho style are also among my favorites.

Our fabrics are not only meant to bring joy to sewing but to become true favorites—pieces of clothing that one loves to wear again and again. Every sewn piece should have a wow effect and make its wearer shine.

My motto is: "Be free, wild, and unique—you deserve fabrics that are just as special as you are."

In addition to my own designs, I also collaborate with selected designers who perfectly fit our style. This creates an exciting mix of different creative signatures, always offering something new to our customers.

Why is sustainability important to you when choosing your fabrics?

For me, sewing is more than just a trend—it's a step away from overconsumption. Everyone who sews puts love and care into their project, and that deserves fabrics that are sustainable and long-lasting.

It is important to me that the fabrics I offer are not only GOTS-certified but also look fantastic even after many washes. Sustainability means responsibility to me—for the people who make these fabrics and for the environment we live in.

Since when have you been working with Lebenskleidung, and why?

I have been working with Lebenskleidung since the beginning of my fabric career. In 2012, I started selling self-sewn children's clothing, and Ben and his team have supported me from the very beginning. What I appreciate about Lebenskleidung is their consistent commitment to ecological and socially fair textile production. They know exactly where the best fabrics come from and maintain direct contact with the producers.

We all have a responsibility to preserve our planet for future generations, and it starts with small decisions—like choosing the right fabrics.
