A look inside our warehouse reveals the level of care and precision required before a single piece of fabric leaves our premises. From the initial unrolling to the final order picking, a well-established testing and inspection process ensures that every meter meets our high quality standards.

In February 2024, we visited our warehouse and gained a detailed insight into the processes behind the quality assurance of our fabrics. The tour made it clear that quality at Lebenskleidung is not accidental, but rather the result of many carefully coordinated work steps.

The process begins with the fabric inspection machines. Here, the rolls of fabric are slowly unwound and systematically checked for defects. On the back of the machines, trained employees inspect every centimeter of fabric for holes, stains, or other irregularities. Any defects are marked and documented in an inspection report. This comprehensive inspection ensures transparency and guarantees that only flawless fabric is processed further.

In the next step, the fabric goes to the doubling machine. There, it is precisely folded and rolled onto winding boards. Accurate length measurement is particularly important here: Standardized 10-meter units are typically prepared. This precision ensures that the delivered quantities are correct and that our customers can rely on consistent quality and dimensions.

Another key component of quality control is the WKS Eurofins laboratory. Fabrics are tested under standardized conditions – at a constant room temperature of 20°C and 65% relative humidity. These standards comply with international testing norms and ensure comparable, reliable results. In the laboratory, we were able to see, among other things, the standardized washing machine used to subject fabric samples to a realistic washing cycle.

For the washing shrinkage test, samples measuring 50 × 50 cm are prepared, precisely labeled, and measured beforehand. The detergent is carefully mixed from powder and softened water. After washing, the samples dry under controlled conditions and are then measured again to accurately determine the shrinkage values. These tests provide important information for further processing and subsequent use of the fabrics.

To conclude our tour, we were given a glimpse into the order picking department. Here, orders are individually tailored, fabric samples are compiled, and each delivery is prepared with meticulous care. The small parts warehouse, in particular, illustrates the diversity of our product range and the significant manual effort involved in every order. Only after this final inspection are the packages sent out for shipping and begin their journey to you.

Fazit

Our warehouse is the heart of our quality assurance. Precise testing procedures, standardized processes, and meticulous craftsmanship ensure that every fabric meets our standards for quality, transparency, and sustainability. Every meter we ship embodies this responsibility.
