Deadstock Indilisi – High-quality organic cotton fabrics from South India
This deadstock collection is the result of a special partnership: Indilisi, founded by the multi-award-winning fair fashion pioneer Safia Minney (MBE, founder of People Tree and Fashion Declares), works directly in South India with Sustainably Crafted Clothing and the cotton farmers of Chetna Organics. The fabrics, which are available here as deadstock by the meter, come from overproduction by renowned fashion brands – high-quality materials that would otherwise remain in storage.
What makes these fabrics special:
- 100% certified organic cotton from small-scale farming in India
- Artisanal quality – many qualities are hand-woven and breathable
- Genuine deadstock – not newly produced raw material, but existing stock from real supply chains
- Low CO₂ footprint – imported by sea freight, not air freight
- Transparent origin – we know the spinning mill, the weaving mill, and the farmers
Why this cooperation?
After Brexit, Safia Minney was looking for a partner to continue making these fabrics available in the EU. Lebenskleidung has since taken over the distribution and marketing of these exceptional materials for the European market – so that designers and manufacturers can access fabrics whose history, provenance, and ecological value are fully traceable.
