The partnership between Lebenskleidung and Premium Haberdashery is precisely such a case: born from curiosity, responsibility, and the desire to rethink materials – consistently sustainable and practical for everyday use at the same time.
In the world of sustainable fashion, the collaboration between Lebenskleidung and Premium Haberdashery occupies a special place. Behind Premium Haberdashery is Mandy Geddert – founder of the sustainable children's fashion label.CharLe – sustainable kids fashionand the driving force behind a project that combines materials with attitude. Mandy lives and works in Berlin-Oberschöneweide, is married, a mother of two, and above all, has remained curious and uncompromising in her demands for sustainability.
She founded the label CharLe back in 2009 with the aim of designing durable and environmentally responsible clothing for children. Although the label no longer exists, her commitment to materials, transparency, and quality remained – and eventually found a new form in Premium Haberdashery.
A little over five years ago, Mandy took a decisive step: she added sustainable rubber bands to her product range. The trigger was simple yet telling – in her search for environmentally friendly alternatives, she couldn't find a supplier that met her requirements. So she decided to take matters into her own hands.
The search led them to an Austrian ribbon weaver, a family-run company with decades of experience in manufacturing elastic and inelastic bands. This collaboration resulted not only in a high-quality product, but also in a values-based partnership. The elastic bands are made from GOTS-certified organic cotton from Turkey and natural rubber from Malaysia, demonstrating that sustainable material solutions are possible even in seemingly small details.
The products are regularly tested for harmful substances and meet strict international standards, including the EU toy standards EN 71-3 and EN 71-12. We have been carrying Premium Haberdashery's rubber bands in our shop for five years now. They occupy a true niche and are available from a minimum quantity of just one meter – an approach that focuses on both customer friendliness and resource conservation.
Lovingly handcrafted, these rubber bands combine quality, sustainability, and functionality. They are available in various widths and colors, are washable, biodegradable, and recyclable. Furthermore, they are chlorine- and heat-resistant and boast a significantly longer lifespan than conventional rubber bands.
